GrIFK Climbs to Second Place in Rankings Ahead of Final Tournament

ASK/MSĢ delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating ZRHK TENAX Dobele 34:29 in an intense and fast-paced league matchup. Despite a strong start by the home side, ASK/MSĢ took control in the second half and maintained their lead to the final whistle.

Strong Opening by TENAX, but ASK/MSĢ Responds

TENAX opened the match aggressively, scoring the first two goals within 90 seconds through Mārtiņš Misulis and Kārlis Krūmiņš, while ASK/MSĢ struggled with early missed attempts by Valdis Kalniņš and Kristers Rihards Ozols.

ASK/MSĢ found their rhythm by the 3rd minute, with Krists Vidzis putting them on the board. By minute seven, ASK/MSĢ had turned the game around, taking a 5:4 lead behind sharp finishing from Sandis Vaškevičs, who contributed heavily throughout the half.

The first 30 minutes were highly competitive, with both teams alternating scoring runs. Despite TENAX briefly regaining the lead at 10:8 and 13:11, ASK/MSĢ surged again late in the half. A series of goals from Valdis Kalniņš and Krists Vidzis, including successful 7-meter shots, pushed ASK/MSĢ ahead.

The first half ended 19:16 in favor of ASK/MSĢ after a final exchange of penalty goals.

Dominant Second Half by ASK/MSĢ

ASK/MSĢ elevated their pace and precision after halftime. Their attacking efficiency, led by top scorer Valdis Kalniņš, steadily widened the gap. Kalniņš scored 12 goals from 14 shots, making him the standout performer of the match.

Even as TENAX attempted comebacks, fueled by efforts from Misulis and Krūmiņš, ASK/MSĢ maintained 3–5-goal leads throughout most of the half. Critical misses and multiple suspensions hindered TENAX’s ability to close the gap, including several missed penalty shots.

ASK/MSĢ remained disciplined despite accumulating suspensions themselves. Late goals by Markuss Ikvils, Vaškevičs, and Vidzis sealed their impressive performance.

The final minute saw TENAX push for consolation goals, but ASK/MSĢ’s defense held firm, confirming the final result: 34:29.
