Dragūnas Klaipėda power past Mistra to reach the Final

HC Dragūnas Klaipėda delivered a dominant performance in the second semi-final, defeating Mistra 35:21 to secure their place in Sunday’s final.

After a competitive opening phase, Dragūnas gradually took control of the match and never looked back, extending their lead throughout the second half to seal an emphatic victory.

Tight start before Dragūnas take control

Mistra started confidently and even held a narrow early lead, with goals from Arno Vare and Serhii Orlovskyi helping them stay in front during the opening minutes.

However, Dragūnas responded quickly through Deividas Virbauskas and Karolis Stropus, turning the momentum in their favor. A key stretch midway through the first half saw the Lithuanian side go on a decisive run, building a five-goal advantage at 13:8.

Despite Mistra’s efforts to stay in touch—largely driven by Vare’s efficiency from the seven-meter line—the gap remained, and Dragūnas carried a 17:13 lead into halftime.

Second-half dominance seals the result

The second half quickly turned one-sided. Dragūnas tightened their defense while continuing to score efficiently in attack, stretching the lead to 22:15 and then further to 28:21.

From that point, Mistra struggled to find solutions against a well-organized Dragūnas defense, missing several key opportunities. Meanwhile, the Lithuanian side kept their momentum, finishing the match on a strong run to reach a commanding 35:21 victory.

Top performers

Virbauskas led all scorers with an impressive 10 goals, while Lukas Juskenas added 6 goals, including four from the seven-meter line. Stropus contributed 5 goals, and solid support came from Tomas Draksas and others across the lineup.

For Mistra, Vare stood out with 6 goals (including three penalties), while Orlovskyi added 4 goals, but the team was unable to match Dragūnas’ intensity in the second half.

Final and bronze match set

With this result, HC Dragūnas Klaipėda advance to the final, where they will face Põlva Serviti on Sunday at 15:30.

Mistra will compete for third place earlier in the day at 13:00 against VHC Šviesa.

The stage is now set for an exciting conclusion to the Final 4 weekend, with both medals still to be decided.
