Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės defeat HK Ogre/RSU in high-scoring BHL encounter

Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės claimed a 41:35 victory over HK Ogre/RSU in the Baltic Handball League on Saturday, September 26, holding off the Latvian side after an entertaining, high-scoring contest.
The Lithuanian visitors led 23:20 at half-time before extending their advantage after the break and eventually securing a six-goal victory.
The teams traded goals during the opening minutes, with the score level at 4:4 before Pasvalio began to establish control. A strong spell from the visitors, led by Titas Janušonis and Valentyn Yaroshenko, pushed them ahead 10:5 after ten minutes.
HK Ogre/RSU responded and remained within touching distance. Raitis Rudko, Rihards Bisters and Uvis Strazdiņš all contributed as the hosts gradually reduced the deficit. Ogre finished the opening half strongly, with Strazdiņš scoring shortly before the break to bring the score to 20:23.
The hosts opened the second half with another goal to make it 21:23, but Pasvalio quickly restored their cushion. Goals from Denys Usinov, Yaroshenko, Andrii Kasai and Aronas Vaškevičius helped the visitors stretch the lead to 28:22 by the 36th minute.
The decisive period followed midway through the second half. Pasvalio moved from 29:24 to 32:24, with Oleksandr Kasai and Janušonis among the scorers, giving the Lithuanian side its largest momentum swing of the match.
Ogre continued to fight. Aliaksei Haisa converted important chances, including from the seven-metre line, while Rudko and Bisters kept the home attack moving. The hosts reduced the margin to five goals on several occasions, but Pasvalio consistently found a response and never allowed Ogre to seriously threaten the lead during the closing stages.
Janušonis produced the standout individual performance for Pasvalio, scoring nine goals from ten shots. Oleksandr Kasai added seven goals from eight attempts, while Yaroshenko and Andrii Kasai contributed six goals each. Aronas Vaškevičius finished with five.
For HK Ogre/RSU, Rihards Bisters and Aliaksei Haisa scored seven goals apiece, with Haisa converting three of his four seven-metre attempts. Rudko added six goals, while Strazdiņš scored five.
Despite scoring 35 goals, Ogre were unable to contain Pasvalio’s balanced attacking performance, with eight visiting players scoring at least twice during the match. The visitors maintained their advantage through the final minutes before Vytautas Impolis converted a seven-metre throw in the closing seconds to establish the 41:35 final score.
