Põlva Serviti Pull Away in Second Half to Beat ASK/MSĢ 36–22

Põlva Serviti claimed a convincing Baltic Handball League victory on Sunday, defeating ASK/MSĢ 36–22 after gradually taking control of the contest and producing a dominant finish in the second half.

The Estonian side established a five-goal advantage before the break and then increased the tempo after half-time, eventually turning a competitive opening phase into a 14-goal victory.

The teams exchanged goals during the first few minutes, with ASK/MSĢ twice drawing level at 1–1 and 2–2. Serviti then began to create separation. Goals from Stanislav Kholodiuk and Tõnis Kase helped the hosts move ahead 5–3, before a strong spell midway through the first half increased the advantage to 11–6.

ASK/MSĢ continued to battle and managed to reduce the deficit late in the half. After Serviti had moved six goals clear at 14–8, Krists Vidzis and Kristiāns Meiers responded for the Latvian side. Jurgen Rooba’s successful seven-metre throw nevertheless gave Serviti a 15–10 advantage going into the break.

ASK/MSĢ opened the second half with a successful seven-metre throw from Kārlis Matisons and continued to keep the gap within four or five goals during the early stages. Kristiāns Meiers scored twice as ASK/MSĢ reached 18–14, while another spell brought the visitors within four at 20–16.

Serviti responded decisively.

Goals from Kholodiuk, Carl-Eric Uibo, Hendrik Varul and Kase gradually stretched the lead, and after the score reached 26–20, the home side produced the decisive run of the match.

Sander Sarapuu and Kermo Saksing made it 28–20 before Varul and Uibo extended the advantage to ten goals at 30–20. ASK/MSĢ managed two more goals, but Serviti controlled the closing stages completely.

From 31–22, the hosts scored the final five goals of the match. Kholodiuk, Rooba, Karlis Kalk and Ihor Berezhnyi all contributed as Serviti closed out an emphatic 36–22 victory.

Serviti’s attack was well distributed across the squad. Tõnis Kase and Kermo Saksing led the winners with six goals each, with Kase converting six of seven attempts. Hendrik Varul added five goals, while Stanislav Kholodiuk was perfect with four goals from four shots. Jurgen Rooba also contributed four goals, including two successful seven-metre throws.

For ASK/MSĢ, Markuss Ikvils was the leading scorer with six goals from 12 attempts. Kristiāns Meiers, Kārlis Matisons and Sandis Vaškevičs each scored three goals, with Matisons converting both of his seven-metre attempts.

The result also gives Põlva Serviti a second consecutive victory over ASK/MSĢ in their recent Baltic Handball League meetings. Serviti had won the previous encounter 31–24 on 22 February 2026.
