Põlva Serviti delivered a powerful statement in the Baltic Handball League on Saturday evening, defeating ZRHK TENAX Dobele 37:30 after a high-tempo and physical contest. The home side overturned the memory of last season’s narrow 26:27 defeat against the Latvian club with a dominant second-half performance.
Serviti led 17:15 at half-time after an evenly matched opening period, but accelerated decisively after the break to secure a seven-goal victory in front of their home crowd.
Põlva Serviti started the match aggressively, racing into a 3:0 lead within the opening minutes thanks to early goals from Carl-Eric Uibo and Stanislav Kholodiuk. Dobele responded quickly and levelled the match at 5:5, setting the tone for a tightly contested first half.
The turning point came late in the first half when Henri Sillaste scored twice in quick succession (28th–29th minute), giving Serviti a 17:15 advantage at the break.
After half-time, Serviti tightened their defense and punished Dobele’s missed chances. A strong spell between the 31st and 34th minutes saw the home side stretch the lead to 20:15. Despite Dobele attempting to rally through Ņikita Pančenko and Emīls Kurzemnieks, Serviti consistently answered back.
In the final ten minutes, Kermo Saksing’s scoring run and another clinical burst from Sillaste sealed the outcome, pushing the lead beyond reach. Karlis Kalk closed the scoring with a successful seven-meter throw in the final minute to confirm the 37:30 result.
