Tallinna Mistra claimed a 29:24 victory over ZRHK TENAX Dobele in the Baltic Handball League on Saturday, building a five-goal advantage in the first half and successfully protecting it after the break.
Mistra led 15:10 at half-time before finishing the match with the same five-goal margin. The result also reversed the outcome of the teams’ previous Baltic Handball League meeting on 25 January 2026, when TENAX won 30:21 in Dobele.
The visitors stayed close during the opening stages. Artis Putra brought TENAX level at 2:2, and another goal from Putra made it 3:3 after just over eight minutes.
Mistra then began to take control. Arno Vare and Serhii Orlovskyi were heavily involved as the Estonian side opened a 7:4 lead. Two consecutive Mistra goals around the 17th minute increased the advantage to 9:4 and prompted TENAX to call their first timeout.
The hosts continued to extend the gap and reached their biggest lead of the first half at 13:6. TENAX responded well before the interval, with Kārlis Krūmiņš playing a prominent role in a 4:0 run that reduced the deficit to 13:10.
Mistra nevertheless had the final word before the break, with Andre Soikka and Vare restoring a five-goal advantage and sending the home side into half-time ahead 15:10.
TENAX made another attempt to close the gap early in the second half. After Mistra moved 17:11 ahead, goals from Krūmiņš and Putra helped Dobele reduce the difference to 17:14.
That proved to be one of the decisive phases of the game. Mistra responded with three unanswered goals, with Rauno Kopli, Vare and Orlovskyi pushing the score to 20:14. TENAX called timeout at 41:16, but the hosts maintained control.
Vare converted another seven-metre throw to make it 21:14, while back-to-back goals from Kopli later stretched Mistra’s advantage to 23:16.
TENAX continued competing until the end and produced a productive final eight minutes. Putra, Kristiāns Lagzda and Mārcis Drēviņš all contributed as the Latvian champions reduced the deficit, but Mistra answered whenever required and closed out the match 29:24.
Arno Vare was Tallinna Mistra’s leading scorer with nine goals from 11 attempts, including a perfect four goals from four seven-metre throws. Rauno Kopli was also highly efficient, scoring six times from six attempts, while Serhii Orlovskyi contributed five goals.
