VHC Šviesa delivered a commanding performance on home court, defeating Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės 34:23 in a Baltic Handball League clash that saw the hosts overturn a slow start and take full control in the second half. After trailing early and entering the break with a slim 13:10 lead, Šviesa surged ahead with an explosive offensive display and disciplined defending.
Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės opened the match more aggressively, quickly establishing a 0:2 lead with goals from Karolis Piragis and Modestas Štarolis. Šviesa struggled for rhythm early on, missing several clear chances. It took until the 3rd minute for Alan Bogdiun to net Šviesa’s first goal.
Momentum began shifting at the 5-minute mark when Mykolas Lapiniauskas converted the first of his four seven-meter throws to equalize at 2:2. Despite temporary setbacks—including a two-minute suspension for Bogdiun—Šviesa gradually regained control. A series of goals from Sarunas Vizinis and Skirmantas Plėta stabilized the match, while Lapiniauskas’ precision from the penalty line allowed the home team to edge ahead 13:10 at halftime.
The second half belonged entirely to VHC Šviesa. With improved defensive coordination and quick transitions, the hosts opened the scoring floodgates. Key goals from Ugianskis, Bogdiun, and Vizinis stretched the lead to 19:13 by the 38th minute.
Pasvalys found brief relief through Štarolis, who remained accurate from seven meters, but VHC Šviesa’s depth and pace proved overwhelming. Ernestas Stvolas ignited a late scoring run, netting four goals in the final 11 minutes, while Vizinis added his sixth goal to put the match firmly out of reach.
The final blow came at 59:16, when Tauras Pundinas converted Šviesa’s seventh penalty of the match, sealing the 34:23 victory.
