In a Baltic Handball League clash this afternoon, Viljandi HC earned a dominant 36:24 victory over Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės, extending their strong run in the competition. The Estonian side built a six-goal cushion by halftime (17:11) and maintained full control throughout the second period, ultimately closing the game with a 12-goal margin.
Pasvalio Pieno žvaigždės started brightly, with Modestas Štarolis opening the scoring just over a minute into play. However, Viljandi HC quickly responded through Kristo Voika and Simon Drõgin, taking the lead by the third minute.
From there, the visitors established their rhythm. Hendrik Koks, clinical from the seven-meter line, and Ott Varik drove Viljandi’s attacking momentum. By the 15th minute, Viljandi had stretched their advantage to four goals (10:6). Despite spirited efforts from Pasvalio’s Titas Janušonis and Oleksandr Kasai, the hosts struggled to convert chances, with several missed shots halting any comeback attempts.
Viljandi’s discipline and speed on transitions proved decisive. Koks and Voika repeatedly punished Pasvalio’s defensive gaps, while Pasvalio’s frustrations grew with multiple suspensions and missed opportunities, including a crucial penalty miss by Štarolis midway through the first half.
The second half continued in the same vein. Kasai’s perfect record from the penalty line and Pukas’ contributions kept Pasvalio fighting, but Viljandi’s attack was relentless. In the final minutes, Jaan-Paul Varik sealed the emphatic win with a late scoring burst, netting three unanswered goals to close the game at 36:24.
